Music has always been the driving force of this gifted producer and composer for a bunch of big projects in the past. Just one year deep into his solo project after joining Sabb’s record label RADIANT. the name Black Circle has made leaps and bounds.
He’s remixed the likes of CamelPhat, the trio Better Lost than Stupid which is Davide Squillace, Martin Buttrich, Matthias Tanzmann and last but not least Eli & Fur. He’s also been remixed by Luciano or OXIA and collaborated with Nic Fanciulli, Matthias Tanzmann, Yousef and NBA former Rony Seikaly.
Through both his remixes and original works that went several times No. #1 in the Beatport charts, he caught the attention of the upper elchos of the industry with Carl Cox, Black Coffee and Pete Tong just some of the Artists supporting his music.
WWD: Hey, thanks for your time! How are you doing? How was your early 2021 so far?
Hey there! Thanks for having me. Doing well so far thanks. My start into 2021 was quiet good, nothing special to be honest besides working in the studio on new music.
WWD: You had your first collab with Matthias Tanzmann in 2019 on Moon Harbour. And on social media it seems like you really became friends. How did you know each other?
That’s a funny story actually. I saw that Matthias supported one of my tracks that just came out on Saved Records at that time. I texted him just to say ’’Thank you’’ for playing my tune. He wanted me to send him a demo for his own label Moon Harbour and i just asked him straight: Lets do a track together ? He answered: Lets do two tracks together J We clicked really fast together and i saw how cool and easy it was to work with Matthias, we always agreed to each others ideas which gave us the perfect work flow. Besides working together, we became good friends. He and his crew invited me to Ibiza and we had a great b2b-set together with loads of fun. I’m super happy about how our friendship developed in a positive way of course, which was also good for our productions and payed off with a number #1 in the Beatport Charts.
WWD: You have several releases with Nic Fanciulli, two of them went #1 and #2 Beatport Best Sellers 2020. How did you get involved with Nic and can you tell us a little about these records?
Nic really liked one of my tunes called ’’Foolish’’ and told me to write one for his record label (Saved). I did that of course and went also number #1 on Beatport. He was really impressed and believed in me since day one. We had some chats together and decided to do a collabo. I wanted to do something huge with Nic but wasn’t sure if he would like my idea or not. We started to send some sketches back and forth untill we agreed to these two tracks which became best sellers on Beatport + number #1 and #2 in the charts. Everything happend so fast it felt so surreal.
WWD: Every track of you is very special. Where do you get your inspiration from?
To be honest, i dont know. Sometimes it just happens and I can go with the flow and finish a track in 4-5 hours. I don’t follow any genres or try to copy etc. always trying to be myself without getting influenced by other tracks.
WWD: We went through your latest releases it seems like you are really enjoying working together with other artists. What is the magic of making music together?
I love the process in a collabo. which means when both artists are on the same level but still coming up with good ideas from different angles.
WWD: For our reader which are into music production themselves – do you have a special studio tip?
Make your own signature in your tracks so people recognize you. Don’t try to copy and keep pushing yourself. I tried it for many years and always fell down but never gave up. If you love what you do, go for it 100%
WWD: Atm during the pandemic it’s really hard being an artist, is there any other thing you love and enjoy to do besides music?
Nature is the perfect balance for me. I just love hanging at the lake and reload my batteries or walking my dog out. It is also important for me to socialize with family and friends, especially as a musician that spends most of his time in the studio.
WWD: Oh yes, that sounds really nice. Is there a (non-electronic) track that you love and like to share with us
Ludovico Einaudi is one of my all time favorites. He’s a great pianist! You should check him out, I love his passion.
WWD: Are there any plans for the future? More interesting releases you’d like us to know?
Yeah i got really nice things coming. Did a new collabo with Andrea Oliva which comes out this summer. Another very special tune with Nic Fanciulli which was really, really special to work on it for both of us. Too bad I can’t tell you more about ;), Additionally a remix for Nick Curly plus another remix together with Matthias Tanzmann. Besides all these collabos I’ve also got some new single tracks and I started to work on my own album.
WWD: Thanks for talking with us !
Thank you !
