A bumper weekend is in the offing for Ireland’s dance music fans with the arrival of one of their favourite sons Sander Van Doorn. The Dutchman who has enjoyed a fantastically successful year on all fronts will play two Irish shows within the space of two days this weekend both under the banner of Residence. First up is The Savoy Theatre in Cork where Sander will take to the stage in front of what is expected to be a capacity crowd. Then on Saturday night the man behind smashes like ‘Nothing Inside’ and ‘Chasin’ will return to the site of his first ever Irish show back in 2006, the renowned Radisson Live Lounge in Galway.
Sander has established a somewhat fanatical fanbase in Ireland based upon his frequent appearances on our small Isle and his stated love for his fans here (he recently cited Ireland as his favourite place to play and also referenced his first Residence show in The Village last September). The Dutch native arrives in Ireland off the back of two appearances at the renowned Ultra Music fesitval and a slew of succesful releases including ‘Ten’ in collaboration with Mark Knight and Underworld. We were also treated to a preview of his new release ‘Neon’ on Radio 1 last week with Pete Tong, a track which will without doubt go down well with his Irish followers. With a reputation for high energy sets and a keen appreciation of his surroundings many Irish fans will be hoping for a varied set with a few classics thrown in for good measure. Support in Cork comes from Yunisun + Dashka, while in Galway Adrohan and Tom Lavin join Residence men Pete Maguire + Simon Says.
P.S We’ll personally be hoping for an earful of his seldom heard set finisher ‘Ultimate Seduction’ which samples the well know vocals from Chantal – The Realm.
Tickets for both shows are still available from Ticketmaster
